Can green pepper seeds be planted? When is the best time to plant them?

Green pepper seed planting

Green pepper seeds can be planted, but germination depends on temperature and humidity, and there are requirements for green pepper seeds. You can directly purchase finished seeds, so the germination rate is higher.

Mature green pepper seeds can be planted directly by placing them in a dry place in the kitchen or in the sun.

Can green pepper seeds bear fruit?

Green pepper seeds can bear fruit, the suitable temperature for seed germination is 25-30℃, and the germination time is 5-7 days. High temperature is required in the seedling stage, and the best temperature is 25-30℃ during the day and 15-18℃ at night.

Green pepper seed planting time

Peppers like heat and are suitable for growing in a mild climate and sunny environment. Therefore, they are generally planted from March to July. The temperature and light are suitable for the growth of peppers. Early planting can make them grow more fully and harvest more fruits.

How to plant green pepper seeds

1. Site selection and fertilization : Select fertile, organic-rich, ventilated and loose land with deep soil, flat terrain and convenient drainage. Deep ploughing in autumn, fine and flat soil, apply 5000 kg of decomposed farmyard manure and 50 kg of NPK compound fertilizer per mu, and apply fertilizer in the ditch before covering, with a ditch depth of about 20 cm.

2. Seeding and seedling raising : Seeds should be soaked before sowing to accelerate germination rate, improve germination rate and shorten seedling period. Seedlings can be raised in nutrient soil or direct seeding. After sowing and germination, water should be added appropriately to resist drought, avoid high temperature, and apply quick-acting fertilizer appropriately.

3. Planting : When the seedlings are 10-15 cm tall and have 5-6 true leaves, they can be planted. Water them the day before planting and then transplant them into the soil. Green pepper plants are compact and have great potential if planted in a reasonable density. This is conducive to early closure and the roots are not easily exposed to the sun, thus protecting the roots and trees and reducing viral diseases.

4. Field management : drain water in time in rainy season and water in time in drought to meet the needs of plant growth. Green peppers must also be properly top-dressed to supplement nutrition to ensure their growth and development. Generally, three top-dressings are required, one after planting the seedlings, the second time during the young fruit expansion period, and the third time after harvest, each time applying 8-10 kg of urea.
