Is coriander a shade or sun-loving plant?

Does coriander prefer shade or sun?

Coriander is one of the common vegetables in life. It is a sun-loving plant. However, judging from the living habits of coriander, the plant can only grow fast and well if it grows in an environment with sufficient light. If there is insufficient light, the growth of the plant will deteriorate.

Coriander in the sun

Coriander is a plant that requires medium to short days, and only needs about 6 to 8 hours of sunlight per day. If the light is too strong, it may burn the leaves of the plant, harden the stems, and easily cause the plant to bolt.

Coriander can be exposed to the sun, but it cannot be exposed to the scorching sun, because the root system of coriander is relatively fragile. If it is exposed to the sun for a long time, it will cause the transpiration of the plant to accelerate, and in severe cases it will cause the plant to wither and die.

Coriander growth habits

Coriander is native to the Mediterranean region of Europe. The plant prefers cool weather and is not heat-resistant. It has weak cold and drought resistance. It should not be watered too much during the seedling stage. The most suitable growth temperature is 17-20℃. It is not strict about light requirements, but it cannot tolerate strong sunlight.

Coriander is generally grown in the open field. Generally, you should choose a plot with deep soil, sufficient light and flat terrain as the planting site. If it is grown in a potted plant, just place it in an environment with scattered light.
