How to plant primroses

How to plant primroses

1. Sowing time

The main consideration is whether the temperature is suitable. When the temperature is suitable, the seeds will germinate easily. Available in May-June and September-October. The temperature is most suitable at this time.

2. Preparation

1. Seed collection and processing: Seeds are generally collected around May and June and can be sown immediately after collection. If you want to sow in September or October, the seeds need to be refrigerated. The seeds for sowing should be relatively plump and not bitten by insects.

2. Substrate preparation: Use loose, breathable and easy-to-drain soil. You can mix leaf mold and garden soil, and be careful to choose fine soil.

3. Sowing

Once the substrate and seeds are prepared, they can be sown. First mix the seeds with some fine sand, then sprinkle them on the substrate, making sure to spread them evenly. After spreading, sprinkle a layer of fine sand on top. It doesn't need to be too thick, just enough to cover the seeds.

4. Management after sowing

If managed properly after sowing, the seeds will germinate easily. After sowing, the substrate must be moistened first. It is best to use the immersion pot method, that is, place the pot in a basin of water and let the water penetrate into the substrate through the holes at the bottom of the pot. Once the substrate is moistened, take out the pot. In addition, it is best to cover the flower pot with plastic film to keep it warm and moist. Also place it in a semi-shaded area to avoid strong light. After about a week or two, you can see its young shoots breaking through the soil.
