Cultivation methods and precautions of Luwei flower

Cultivation methods and precautions of Luwei flower

1. Watering

It is a succulent plant. Although its leaves are not as fat and thin as other succulents, it can accumulate a lot of water and has a certain degree of drought resistance. You don't need to water too frequently, especially in the hot summer. The plant grows slowly, so reduce the amount of water and keep the soil in the pot drier to avoid root rot.

2. Fertilization

It blooms more frequently and requires more nutrients. Starting from May, the growth rate will accelerate, so it is necessary to apply thin fertilizers frequently. Under normal circumstances, apply a thin layer of nitrogen fertilizer once every half a month. Flower buds will appear in June, and phosphorus fertilizer should be applied frequently to provide sufficient nutrients and promote flowering.

3. Soil

It likes acidic soil, preferably loose and well-ventilated. When breeding, you can mix river sand, leaf mold and garden soil, which can basically meet its needs. Note that the soil must be disinfected before use to avoid insect eggs or pathogens.

4. Pruning

During the breeding period, attention should be paid to timely pruning. Its flowers are lotus-shaped, and many flower stems will grow out from the leaves. After flowering, the flower stems should be cut off in time, and the branches and leaves should be trimmed appropriately. Cut off some branches and leaves that grow too densely to increase its light transmittance so that it can bloom next year.

5. Notes

Pay attention to temperature control during breeding, as its cold and high temperature resistance are relatively poor. It should be moved indoors in time in winter, and insulation measures should be taken if necessary. When the temperature is high in summer, provide shade in time and strengthen ventilation and cooling.
