Cucumber , as a common vegetable , is grown in all parts of China, especially in the north and south. However, many growers often encounter problems with low yield and poor quality during the cultivation process, which often lead to unsatisfactory returns from cultivation. Here I will show you some tips for high-yield cucumber cultivation. 1. Spray vinegar Vinegar is rich in acetic acid, amino acids, lactic acid and other nutrients. These ingredients can be directly absorbed through the stomata of plant leaves, helping to enhance photosynthesis and promote the synthesis of dry matter, thereby increasing yield. During the growth process of cucumber, from planting to bud stage, spraying vinegar every 7 days can significantly increase yield. To attract pests, add a small amount of sugar to the vinegar and spray it 3-4 times continuously, which can increase production by more than 30%. 2. Mix vinegar and sugar The acidity of vinegar helps inhibit the growth of pathogens, while the nutrients in vinegar and sugar can increase the yield and quality of cucumbers. Before the cucumber blooms and bears fruit, spray it with a mixture of vinegar and sugar. The ratio is vinegar (table vinegar or rice vinegar): sugar: water = 1:1:100 or 0.5:0.5:100. 3. Temperature and light management The critical period for high cucumber yield is 10 to 30 days after the cotyledons of the seedlings unfold, and growth is promoted by controlling temperature, light, water and carbon dioxide concentration. The daytime temperature should be maintained at around 25 degrees Celsius and the nighttime temperature should be between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius, not lower than 12 degrees Celsius. The lighting time should be controlled between 8 and 9 hours, not exceeding 9 hours. The humidity in the greenhouse should be kept at around 80% to increase the number of female flowers. When the carbon dioxide concentration reaches 0.1%, the proportion of female flowers increases significantly; when it reaches 1%, the differentiation of female flower buds can reach 100%. The formation of female flowers can be promoted by fumigating the shed and keeping it sealed for 2 days and nights. 4. Sugar solution spraying Spraying sugar solution on the leaves can promote plant growth. Spraying with 0.3% sugar water solution can enhance the robustness of cucumber plants. Spraying sugar solution on greenhouse cucumbers can increase yield by more than 15%. The specific operation is: use 2000 mg of 10% sugar solution mixed with 25 kg of water per 600 square meters, and spray for 3-5 days. Spraying cucumbers during the seedling, flowering and fruit-setting stages can promote leaf enlargement, more flowering, increase fruit setting rate and straighten cucumbers. 5. Other methods When the female flowers of cucumber open, 70 to 80 mg per liter of gibberellin can be sprayed to promote fruit setting and increase yield. When transplanting, spray 0.1 to 0.5 mg/L of triacontanol solution, and spray again during the initial flowering period, which can significantly increase the yield and improve the straightness and commercial quality of the melon strips. In addition to the above methods, there are many other methods of increasing production that have been proven effective in practice and are worth trying. You can conduct a small-scale trial first, and if the results are good, you can then apply it on a large scale to improve the yield and quality of cucumbers.
