How to grow Euphorbia pilosa

How to grow Euphorbia pilosa

1. Soil Preparation

The soil used is very important. It should be loose and highly draining leaf mold. If you prepare the soil yourself, you can mix 3 parts of garden soil, 1 part of coal slag, 2 parts of peat soil, 2 parts of perlite and 1 part of expanded clay.

2. Plenty of sunshine

Sufficient sunlight must be ensured throughout the year. If it does not see sunlight for a long time and grows in an environment that is too shady, it will bloom less. When the outdoor temperature rises, it is best to place it outdoors in sunlight, and move it indoors to a sunny location in winter.

3. Apply fertilizer in small amounts

The amount of fertilizer should be small, usually 2-3 times in spring. The plant does not like high concentrations of fertilizers, so during its growing period, apply thin cake fertilizer water every 20-30 days. Apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers when buds appear, and reduce fertilization in autumn.

4. Reasonable watering

It has a certain degree of drought resistance, so it does not require excessive watering. During daily cultivation, the soil in the pot only needs to be slightly moist, but not too wet. There should not be too much water at any time, especially during dormancy, when the water should be less.

5. Disease and Pest Control

1. If stem rot or root rot occurs, root rot should be irrigated immediately with root rot killer. We should take more precautions in normal times, provide timely shelter during the rainy season, and do a good job of drainage after the rain.

2. The pests are generally scale insects and whiteflies, which should be controlled by spraying with cypermethrin or cypermethrin. If the number of scale insects is relatively small, they can be captured manually.
