Growing directions
Place tubers concave-side up, barely covered with moist growing medium, at 65–70°F until sprouts appear, then move to bright indirect light and keep evenly moist. Tuberous begonias produce spectacular 3–6 inch double flowers in every color but blue and thrive in the cool, shaded spots where few flowering annuals succeed. Remove the small single flowers (male) flanking the large showy central bloom to direct energy to the main display. As nights cool in fall, reduce watering; after the first frost blackens the foliage, dig tubers, cure for two weeks in a warm dry spot, and store in barely moist peat at 45–50°F for replanting the following spring.
