How does Amaryllis hibernate?

1. Natural hibernation

Amaryllis will enter a dormant state after October, when the temperature is relatively low. If the temperature is below 10℃ for a long time, it will stop growing and its leaves will turn yellow. After entering the dormant period, you can dig out the bulbs and store them in a cool and dry place. However, the temperature is relatively high in many areas and it will not be able to hibernate naturally.

2. Forced hibernation

Generally, compulsory measures will be taken when Amaryllis is unable to enter a natural dormant state. At this time, do not water or fertilize it, and lower the temperature appropriately to let it dormant.

3. Notes

Whether it is natural dormancy or forced dormancy, its leaves cannot be removed. Wait until it turns completely withered and yellow, and then trim them 1-2 cm along the bulb. After pruning, you can keep the pot or take it off and place it in a cool place.
