How to grow plum blossoms

How to grow plum blossoms

1. Breeding environment

(1) Soil: Mainly require loose, fertile and well-drained soil.

(2) Watering: The soil needs to be kept moist during the growth period. In summer, you can water it twice a day. About once a day in spring and autumn. In winter, follow the principle of watering thoroughly when the soil is dry. No matter what season it is, be sure not to allow water to accumulate.

(3) Light: Sufficient sunlight must be provided, otherwise the plant will become weak and produce fewer flowers.

(4) Temperature: It is best to be warm, around 15 to 20 degrees. Cold temperatures will delay its flowering.

(5) Fertilization: Base fertilizer can be mixed into the soil during planting. Use potassium dihydrogen phosphate once before flowering and cake fertilizer once for flowers. During the normal growth period, compound fertilizer, organic fertilizer, etc. can be used.

2. Pruning

It needs to be pruned once just after being potted. Especially when making bonsai, it is necessary to lay the foundation at this time. You can usually observe the condition of the plant to determine whether it should be pruned. All crossed, upright, dry, and overly dense branches need to be cut off, and the side branches should be shortened. In this way, its shape can be made better and its branches and leaves can be luxuriant.

3. Reproduction method

(1) Seed propagation: When the fruits are ripe in September, pick them, peel them and wash them. Prepare suitable substrate and you can sow seeds by the end of September.

(2) Grafting propagation: mainly divided into branch grafting and bud grafting. The roots used for grafting can be selected from peach trees, plum trees, etc., but it is best to graft plum trees with other varieties, so that the success rate of reproduction is high and the growth is good.
