How to raise Ranunculus

How to raise Ranunculus

1. Breeding environment

(1) Soil: The soil should be well-drained, nutrient-rich, loose, and neutral. You can mix garden soil, leaf mold and manure in a ratio of two to one to one.

(2) Light: Generally, providing diffuse light can meet the requirements, but in winter, the plants need to be exposed to more light. It cannot tolerate strong light, so you need to block the light or move it to another location if you encounter it.

(3) Watering: It has good drought resistance but is not tolerant to waterlogging. The most important thing when watering is balance. After planting, water thoroughly for the first time. Subsequent watering should not be too dry or too wet, with surface moistness as the standard.

(4) Fertilization: Use animal manure or cake fertilizer as base fertilizer during planting and mix it evenly with the soil. After new leaves grow, top dressing should be applied, mainly urea in the early stage and compound fertilizer in the later stage. Usually once a week.

(5) Temperature: The temperature should not be too high or too low. Generally, the temperature is between 15 and 20 degrees during the day and between 7 and 8 degrees at night. The temperature difference between day and night should not be too large.

2. Pest control

The plants are susceptible to some pests, such as root maggots, leaf miners, etc. You can spray 40% concentration of oxydemeton-methyl emulsifiable concentrate three or four times in a row.

3. Pruning

Ranunculus grows quickly, so it needs regular pruning. Cut off branches that are too long, too messy, and old. During the flowering period, only a few healthy buds should be left in the early stage, and the rest should be cut off. In the later stage, the withered flowers should also be cut off to prevent them from consuming nutrients.
