How to propagate calla lilies

How to propagate calla lilies

1. Seeds

Alocasia seeds are readily available, so propagation by seed is easy to implement and a common method. First, you need to collect seeds. Generally, wild calla lilies are easy to produce seeds. After planting, open-field methods are required. Generally, the row sowing method is adopted. After sowing, the seeds will be found to germinate after a period of time. After the seeds emerge, they can be transplanted.

2. Cutting

Its rhizomes are very strong, so you can cut the rhizomes of the plants that have grown for several years in the spring of each year, about ten centimeters, and then directly insert them into the planting pot. Wait patiently for a few days and the rhizome will grow a few leaves, so you can directly transplant it elsewhere for growth and development.

3. Division

Generally, many small seedlings will grow from the roots of a growing calla lily, so after these small seedlings grow a little bigger, you can dig them out and transplant them to other places to become new plants.

4. Bulb propagation

First, you need to dig out the small bulbs grown from the roots of the calla lily and then grade them. Those above 2G are first-level bulbs, and those above 2G are second-level bulbs. Before sowing, the planting site must be prepared first. Generally, the land needs to be plowed and then bulb propagation can be carried out. Generally, the planting site is made into a pattern of about 100 cm wide and 25 meters long, and then the first-level bulbs are sown with a row spacing of 0.2 meters and a plant spacing of 0.08 meters. The second-level bulbs can be treated at a distance slightly shorter than the first-level bulbs. The sowing depth needs to be about 5 cm, then cover the soil and level it, and then water it thoroughly. After watering, it is necessary to spray weed killer pesticides in time, which is beneficial for future cultivation.
