How to propagate Canna chinensis

Time of reproduction

This non-flowering operation can be performed once a year, but the mother plant can be divided into 4 or 5 at a time. If you choose to divide the stems, flower lovers living in the north can take out the rhizomes preserved in winter in March and divide them, so that they can bloom faster. But if you choose to sow seeds, you have to do it early because they are just beginning to sprout. So you can start sowing in February. Because it is not so cold at this time, it is more suitable for the growth of seedlings, and the probability of stock is relatively high.

The process of reproduction

Flower lovers who choose to divide the stems can directly separate the flower stems and then plant them in sand pots. The moisture of the soil must be ensured and the temperature must be controlled above 18℃, so that by around May they can grow into strong seedlings and be used for transplanting. They can be placed in the prepared planting site. If you sow seeds directly, you can wait until the seedlings are 10 cm tall before transplanting. At this time, they are growing well and will not get sick due to sudden transplanting, which also increases their chances of survival.

Post-breeding care

If you choose to plant directly in the ground, be sure to turn the soil deeply. If planted in the north, the rhizomes can be controlled after the early frost and placed in the kiss in February. Also pay attention to giving them enough light and water, but be sure not to water them too much, because too much water will cause the roots of the plants to rot, making it difficult to continue to develop, or even cause the entire plant to die. So be careful not to give them too much water.
