Four Seasons Maintenance of Epiphyllum

Four Seasons Maintenance of Epiphyllum

Spring and summer care of Epiphyllum

Spring care of Epiphyllum

After the temperature rises in spring, Epiphyllum begins to resume growth. At this time, you should increase the amount of watering and follow the principle of watering thoroughly when the soil is dry. Avoid making the soil too wet. Reduce watering when it rains.

Epiphyllum grows vigorously in spring, so it is necessary to ensure sufficient water and fertilizer, and it is better to apply fertilizer thinly and frequently. When the temperature rises to 15℃, you can change the pot. The potting soil should be sandy loam rich in humus, loose, breathable, and fertile.

In spring, Epiphyllum needs more exposure to sunlight and sufficient light. In late spring, Epiphyllum should be moved to a semi-shaded place.

Summer care of Epiphyllum

Summer is the peak growth period of Epiphyllum, and the demand for water and fertilizer is relatively large. Adequate water supply should be maintained, and water should be poured every two days to keep the soil in the pot moist. Apply fertilizer thinly and frequently, once every half a month.

Epiphyllum prefers a semi-shaded environment. The light is strong in summer and long-term exposure to sunlight can easily burn the Epiphyllum. It is best to place the plant in a semi-shaded place for maintenance and provide appropriate shade.

Summer is the flowering period of Epiphyllum, and we must do a good job of flowering management so that we can enjoy the beautiful flowers.

Autumn and winter care of Epiphyllum

Autumn care of Epiphyllum

In autumn, as the temperature gradually drops and the weather becomes colder, you should pay attention to keeping warm and move the Epiphyllum to a place with sufficient light so that it can be exposed to sunlight. Please note that in autumn, you should reduce the amount of watering for Epiphyllum, and water it again when the soil in the pot is slightly dry until the plant goes dormant. You can stop fertilizing.

Winter care of Epiphyllum

Winter is the dormant period of Epiphyllum. Epiphyllum is not cold-resistant, and the temperature overwintering must be kept above 5℃. There must be sufficient sunlight for Epiphyllum to bloom more. Therefore, Epiphyllum should be placed in a well-lit place indoors.

Epiphyllum is dormant in winter, so watering should be controlled, fertilization should be stopped, and the soil in the pot should be kept slightly dry.
