Cultivation method of Southwest Chlorophytum

Cultivation method of Southwest Chlorophytum

1. Soil

It does not have high requirements for soil, and in order to grow smoothly, it is best to use fertile sandy loam. You can also use common planting soil or nutrient soil. It can also be grown hydroponically.

2. Temperature

It likes a warm environment, and the optimal growth temperature is 20-24℃. It grows fastest in this environment and is also prone to producing creeping branches. However, when the temperature reaches above 30℃, it will stop growing and turn into yellow leaves. The temperature must also be kept above 12℃ in winter for the plant to bloom.

3. Watering

During the vigorous growth period in summer, you can water it once in the morning and evening every day, and once a day in spring and autumn. Water twice a week in winter. Spraying its leaves with water more often can prevent poor growth.

4. Lighting

When caring for it, it is best to place it in semi-shade, as it is afraid of strong light. It is best to grow it indoors, hanging it in front of a window or placing it on top of a cabinet or bookshelf.

5. Fertilization

You can use some liquid fertilizer, mainly nitrogen fertilizer, which is easier to absorb. Do not apply too much fertilizer as it may harm the tender leaves and leaf tips due to plant morphology problems.

6. Repotting

Repot the plant every two years in the spring, slightly trim off excess roots, dead roots and yellow leaves, and remove some of the old soil. It is best to use sandy loam and humus soil to remix the planting soil.
