Cultivation methods and precautions of Japanese begonia

Cultivation methods and precautions of Japanese begonia

1. Soil

Japanese begonias need to be cultivated in slightly acidic soil. They grow best in loose, well-ventilated soil. For home breeding, it is recommended that you use a mixture of river sand, leaf mold and garden soil. Do not use alkaline soil to avoid affecting its growth.

2. Sunlight

It prefers sunlight, so the place where it is kept cannot be too dark. It should be placed in a place with sufficient sunlight. In addition, air circulation in the breeding environment must be ensured to avoid being attacked by pests and diseases.

3. Water

The soil should always be kept slightly moist, and no excess water should be generated, so the amount of watering should be small. When watering, you should keep the soil dry and wet, and do not splash water on the stems and leaves, as they will easily rot.

4. Temperature

A suitable growth environment should be created for it, and the temperature should be maintained between 18-28℃. It is very cold-resistant, so you must ensure that the temperature in winter is not too low. It should spend the winter indoors at a temperature above 10℃. It needs to be moved indoors as soon as possible after winter.

5. Notes

In spring, you should pay attention to pruning, otherwise it will reduce the aesthetics, mainly thinning out branches that are too dense. Some branches that have been attacked by diseases and insects should be cut off as soon as possible to prevent other branches from being infected.
