Cultivation methods and precautions of silver-edged jade

1. Lighting management

Silver-edged Jade prefers a dry environment with plenty of sunlight. When the temperature is around 30°C in the summer and it is directly exposed to sunlight, the leaves of the silver-edged jade will become slightly smaller and the growth period will become very slow. In winter when the temperature is lower, make sure there is plenty of sunlight. Silver-edged Jade is easy to wither and die before winter, so the silver-edged Jade potted plant needs to be moved indoors before winter so that it can survive until the spring of the following year. The sowing period is winter, as the plants are prone to death due to high temperatures in summer.

2. Humidity Management

Silver-edged jade is not suitable for environments with low air humidity. Single flowers will wither quickly when humidity is low, and the leaves should be kept dry at night.

3. Temperature Management

Silver-edged Jade is suitable for warm climates. It will hibernate or die in winter when the temperature is below 4℃. When the temperature is too high, the Silver-edged Jade will stop growing. The temperature around 15~25℃ is most suitable for the growth of silver-edged jade.

4. Soil requirements

The soil for planting silver edge jade is required to be loose, fertile and deep. The soil should be moist to avoid waterlogging which may cause the death of the silver-edged jadeite.

Things to note about Silver Edge Jade

Silver-edged jade is a very good ornamental plant. When planting or appreciating silver-edged jade, please note that its plant juice is poisonous. If the leaves of silver-edged jade are broken, white juice will flow out. If it comes into contact with you, you must wash it off with soapy water as soon as possible. If you accidentally get the juice in your eyes, do not rub your eyes, otherwise it will cause redness and swelling of the eyes and you must seek medical attention as soon as possible. The fragrance emitted by the juice of silver-edged jade can also make people feel dizzy, and long-term exposure may also cause cancer. Always remember to wear gloves when pruning to prevent the juice of the silver-edged jadeite from directly contacting the skin and causing harm.
