Why do we need to dress trees in winter?

Why do we need to dress trees in winter?

1. Tree Clothes

In fact, not all tree clothes are the same. Generally speaking, there are two main types of tree clothes: one is painted white, and the other is wrapped around the trunk. The functions of the two kinds of clothes are also different. The whitewashing materials are mostly lime sulfur. Don't underestimate this layer of white coat. It can prevent insects for trees and save many trees from pests. Wrapping trunks is also very common in winter. You can use newspapers, straw ropes or straw to wrap trunks. Although the effect of newspapers is not as good as straw ropes and straw, it can also play a certain role in keeping trees warm.

2. Reasons for dressing trees

1. Insulation: Trees in winter, like humans, also need to keep warm. No matter what material the tree clothes are made of, they can play a role in insulation and prevent the trees from frostbite, allowing the trees to safely survive the cold winter and grow better in the second year.

2. Wind barrier: The clothes of trees can become a good wind barrier. There are more strong winds in winter. As long as the clothes are protected, the impact of the strong winds on the trees can be reduced and the threat of cold winds to the trees can be reduced.

3. Reduce water evaporation: Compared with other seasons, winter not only has low temperature, but also relatively low humidity. Many trees will have a reduced chance of survival due to drought, and tree clothes can play a good role in this regard. With one more layer, evaporation caused by rapid changes in temperature can be reduced, which can not only isolate relatively low temperatures but also maintain humidity.

4. Pest control: When winter is coming to an end, many pests will revive due to the warming weather and cause some damage to the trees. However, if the trees are wearing a layer of outer coat, it is like adding a protective wall between the trees and the insects. For the insects, they have to go through many obstacles to reach the treetops, which will be much more difficult. This can indirectly protect the trees and prevent pests. Why not?
