What is the flower of Epiphyllum? Pictures of Epiphyllum

1. Plant introduction

1. Morphological characteristics: Epiphyllum is a plant of the Cactaceae family. Its height is between 2-6 meters. The old stems are cylindrical and usually woody. It has many branches, is lanceolate in shape, and can reach 100 cm in length. The flowers are solitary, funnel-shaped, usually open at night, and are fragrant. Its sepals are greenish-white and its petals are white.

2. Growth habits: Epiphyllum is suitable for growing at an altitude of 1000-1200 meters. It likes a warm and humid semi-shady environment and is not resistant to frost and exposure. It has very high requirements for temperature. It grows faster when the temperature is between 15-25℃. It cannot be lower than 5℃ in winter. It is better to maintain it at 10-12℃. At the same time, the soil cannot be too dry.

3. Maintenance method: Generally, use well-drained soil to grow Epiphyllum. Since it prefers semi-shade, it is generally cultivated in a place with scattered light, and sufficient light must be ensured in winter. In daily management, it is necessary to water frequently to keep the soil moist, and spray water appropriately in summer to increase the air humidity. Apply nitrogen fertilizer once a month in spring and autumn, and add bone meal or superphosphate before flowering.

4. How to propagate: Epiphyllum is mainly propagated by cuttings, which is usually carried out from March to May. Select healthy stems as cuttings, with a length of 20-30 cm, usually 2-3 sections per section. Flatten the base appropriately and wait until it is dry before inserting it into the soil. After cuttings, water appropriately, maintain a certain humidity, and control the temperature between 18-24℃. Wait until the roots grow to 3-4 cm before potting.
