What to do if camellia leaves curl when repotting

What to do if camellia leaves curl when repotting

1. Adapt to the environment

After the camellia is repotted, the leaves will curl slightly. This may be because the roots have not yet fully penetrated the pot and have not adapted to the surrounding environment. There is no need to worry too much about this situation. Just wait for it to adapt. Try not to change the maintenance environment and provide a similar growth environment as before, which will be conducive to later recovery.

2. Avoid exposure to the sun

Although camellia likes sunlight, it cannot withstand strong sunlight after being moved from the pot. When the sun is too strong, the leaves will be burned, causing curling. After moving the pot, place it in a cool environment with diffuse light, wait for the camellia to slowly adapt, and then gradually expose it to normal sunlight after its growth stabilizes.

3. Reasonable watering

After transplanting the camellia, you can water it to promote rooting, but avoid watering too much, which will cause root rot and the leaves to naturally curl and wither. If the water does not flow out for a long time, you need to check whether the drainage hole at the bottom of the flower pot is blocked. If the hole is blocked, the water cannot be discharged and water will accumulate inside. You need to stop watering immediately and observe whether the roots are rotten. If not, promote water drainage. If it is rotten, cut the camellia out, deal with the roots and replant it.
