What to do if gardenia does not produce new leaves

1. Control watering

Watering of gardenia should be controlled whether it is in the root repair period or the potting period. If the soil in the pot is too moist, the roots will lack oxygen, making it difficult to grow new leaves, and it will also be easy to breed bacteria, leading to root rot. At this time, just make sure the soil is slightly moist. The roots will grow vigorously and new leaves will grow if there are sufficient nutrients.

2. Reduce light

If the plant has not yet completely passed the acclimatization period, it is best to place the potted plant in a place with scattered light so that the roots can better absorb nutrients and promote leaf growth. If the light is too strong and the water evaporates quickly, its ability to absorb water will weaken and new leaves will not grow.

3. Apply fertilizer appropriately

If the plant is in poor condition during maintenance, do not rush to apply fertilizer, otherwise the root system will not be able to absorb it, which will cause fertilizer damage. If there are still leaves on the plant, you can spray an appropriate amount of fertilizer to improve its resistance. If there are no leaves, do not apply fertilizer. Wait until new leaves grow.

4. Maintain ventilation

During the maintenance period, more ventilation is needed. Only when the environment is suitable can new leaves grow faster. If conditions permit, you can place deciduous plants under a tree for maintenance so that they can grow faster.
