How to judge the root rot of rubber tree

How to judge the root rot of rubber tree

1. How to determine whether the rubber tree has root rot

Check the soil in the pot: After watering the rubber tree once on the same day, wait until the same time the next day to check the soil in the pot. If you find that the surface of the potting soil is slightly dry, then its root system is normal. But if the surface of the potting soil is not dry and is still moist, then root rot may have occurred. If you find that the soil in the pot is still moist after two to three days, the plant may have a serious root rot problem.

Look at the branches and leaves: If some of the branches and leaves lack luster, turn yellow, wilt, and fall off, it may be because of root rot, which has caused problems with the plant's internal nutrient supply. These problems occur when the nutrient supply is insufficient.

Look at the stems: If you find that the stems of the plants become dry and soft during daily maintenance, you should check the roots in time, as there may be root rot.

2. What to do if the rubber tree roots rot

Pruning roots: When you find the above problems with the rubber tree, you need to remove it from the pot and the roots in time. If you find that the rot is not very serious, you can cut off the rotten part and then cut off some of the branches to reduce the plant's demand for nutrients to avoid insufficient nutrient supply. In addition, applying some wood ash on the incision can accelerate wound healing. Wait until the wound dries up before changing the soil and replanting. If the rot is severe, you may need to abandon the plant.

Strengthen management: After replanting, control watering and do not water unless the soil is dry. Do not allow the roots to rot again due to water accumulation. After waiting for a month, the plant will grow new roots.
