How to water potted camellia and what soil is best

1. How to water

The watering of camellia plants in pots should be determined according to the season. The growth conditions are different in different seasons, and the water requirements are also different. If it is in spring, which is the peak growing season and requires a lot of water, it should be watered every two or three days. It cannot be short of water, otherwise the leaves will easily turn yellow. In the summer, the temperature is high and water is lost quickly, so you need to replenish water more often. It is recommended to water once in the morning and once in the evening. As the temperature gradually drops in autumn, the water requirement decreases and is reduced to once a week. In winter, you should control water even more. If the soil is not too dry, you don't need to water it, but you can water it once every half a month.

2. Precautions for watering

In addition to the frequency of watering, you should also pay attention to the time. Especially when watering in summer and winter. The temperature is too high at noon in summer, so avoid it and do it in the morning and evening. In winter, on the contrary, it should be done at noon to avoid damage caused by low temperatures. In addition, be careful not to water frequently during the flowering period, otherwise the flowers and buds will easily fall off.

3. What kind of soil is good?

When caring for camellia in potted plants, the soil must be loose, breathable, fertile and slightly acidic. Such a soil environment allows the plant to breathe better, absorb nutrients and water, and will naturally grow more vigorously. You can mix sand, peat soil and garden soil, and then add an appropriate amount of base fertilizer to increase the nutrients to meet the needs.
