What is the main method of peach blossom reproduction?

1. What is the main focus?

There are three methods of propagating peach blossoms, namely, seed propagation, cutting propagation and grafting propagation. The three methods have their own advantages and disadvantages, but grafting is usually the main method. Grafting can retain the characteristics of the original plant and has a shorter growth cycle. Compared with sowing and cuttings, it can develop to flowering and fruiting faster. Sowing and cuttings are usually suitable for large-scale propagation, and it takes a longer time to wait for flowering and fruiting.

2. Reproduction method

1. Sowing: The fruiting period of peach blossoms is generally from June to August. At this time, pick the fruits, remove the pulp and keep the seeds. The sowing time is generally in spring or autumn. The germination rate of autumn sowing is high and the growth is also very rapid. The seeds should be soaked for 5-7 days before sowing to accelerate germination. Prepare the seedbed and plant the seeds in it.

2. Cuttings: Peach cuttings are divided into hard branch cuttings and soft branch cuttings. Hard branch cuttings are mostly carried out in spring. Cut 20 cm long cuttings and soak the bottom with carbendazim and indolebutyric acid to prevent pathogens and promote rooting. Soft branch cuttings are carried out during the rainy season, with the branches inserted about two-thirds of the way.

3. Grafting: Wild peach is mostly used for peach grafting. The most common ones are branch grafting and bud grafting. Branch grafting needs to be done in March. After cutting the branches, cut the bottom into a bevel and insert it into the cut of the rootstock. Bud grafting is usually carried out in July and August. The full axillary buds are cut off with the bark, shaved into a shield shape, and inserted into the T-shaped incision of the rootstock.
