When and how to repot spider plants

Chlorophytum repotting time

It is recommended to repot spider plants in spring and autumn, which is the period of most vigorous growth and the climate is relatively mild and suitable. Repotting at this time will have less impact on the plants, and repotting can promote recovery growth. It is best to repot once a year and provide new soil to promote plant growth.

Chlorophytum repotting method and steps

1. Depotting : It is recommended to cut off water one week before depotting. When depotting, first use a small shovel to draw a circle along the inner wall of the pot, or tap the outer wall of the pot, which can make the potting soil easier to separate. Then turn the pot upside down, hold the rhizome, and take it out carefully.

2. Root pruning : After digging out the plant, shake off the soil around the roots to expose most of the plant's roots, then cut off rotten roots, old roots and excess fibrous roots.

Then use diluted carbendazim to disinfect and sterilize, and finally dry the roots.

3. Prepare the potting soil : Prepare a larger flower pot with good air permeability. Choose new soil that is soft, fertile and well-drained. You can mix peat soil, sandy soil, and peat soil and disinfect the potting soil.

4. Plant in the pot : Place the plant in the middle of the prepared soil, fill the soil after the roots are expanded, compact the soil lightly and water it thoroughly, and finally place it in a cool place.

Maintenance of Chlorophytum after Repotting

After repotting the spider plant, place it in a place with diffused light and good air circulation, and spray water regularly to ensure the humidity of the surrounding environment. After about a week, the spider plant will adapt to the pot. If the maintenance environment is not very suitable, it may take 15-20 days, or even longer, for it to fully adapt to the pot.
