How to grow orchids without root rot (how to grow orchids with bad roots)

Is there a secret recipe to prevent orchid roots from rotting? As the saying goes, to grow orchids, you must first grow their roots. Without a good root system, the orchid will certainly not grow well. Even if there are no problems in the short term, there will naturally be big problems when it reaches a certain size.

Many people want to grow orchids, but they often fail to do so because they do not have a good grasp of the basic maintenance methods. Today I will tell you that the key is improper planting, so we must master the techniques.

First, suitable planting materials:

The planting material for orchids needs to be loose and breathable, have good drainage, strong moisture retention, and be slightly acidic. In addition, the most suitable planting material is the one with a prominent granular structure.

The soil I use for orchid care is to first mix 1/3 of each of rotten bark, red jade soil, and volcanic rock to make granular planting materials, the size of which is about 0.3 to 0.8 cm. After mixing the planting materials with a good granular structure, finally add 30% of pine needle soil.

Second, maintain the environment:

The best growth temperature for orchids is between 18 and 28 degrees Celsius. Under suitable temperature conditions, they must be given sufficient light.

When the temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius, some varieties need to be brought indoors for the winter. When the temperature is above 32 degrees Celsius, ventilation should be strengthened, appropriate shade should be provided, and spray can be used to cool down the orchid and the surrounding environment.

Third, watering method:

When watering orchids, it is mainly necessary to observe the planting materials in the shallow soil layer, and use the time when the color of volcanic rock and Akadama soil becomes lighter as a basis. In spring and winter, watering is extended by about 5 days, and watering is resumed when the planting materials are completely dry.

The temperature is high and dry in summer and autumn. When the surface of the planting material is dry, water it in the afternoon or evening. At the same time, spray it several times in the morning and evening to moisturize the leaves and cool the environment.

Fourth, fertilization method:

It is recommended to use organic fertilizer water for orchid fertilization. Solid fertilizer is easy to breed small flies in the flower pot. You can ferment rice water for about 15 days and then use it as flower fertilizer.

When the temperature is suitable for orchid growth, about 18 to 28 degrees Celsius, it can be applied once a month.

One month before flowering, you can spray the leaves with a 1200-fold aqueous solution of "potassium dihydrogen phosphate", which can effectively promote flowering. Generally, spray three times in a row, with a week interval between each spray.
