Several common propagation methods of asparagus fern (what to pay attention to when propagating asparagus fern)

First , asparagus fern cuttings combined with high pressure propagation

The cutting propagation of asparagus fern is different from the cutting propagation of some other plants. Of course, it can also be directly cut for cutting, but this cutting method is difficult to survive and has a higher failure rate.

The easiest way to propagate branches is to first use the high pressure method, select a good branch, and open a small mouth on the branch, and then use some sterilized soil or moss.

Wrap the wound, attach it to the soil, sprinkle water, wrap the opening, and then place it in a well-ventilated and cool place, wait for the wound to begin to form nodules, and then cut off the entire branch.

Then remove the extra branches. Many branches will affect the growth. Just keep the upper part of 2-3 small branches and cut them into pieces.

High-pressure breeding precautions

When choosing branches for seedlings, you need to choose some strong but not too tender branches. Tender branches are difficult to cut. Where the branch mouth opens, it is best to open it half a centimeter below the branch bud point, which is more likely to form a node.

The soil or moss used needs to be sterilized with bacteria, otherwise the opening is susceptible to infection and the branch may dry out.

Second, asparagus fern seed sowing and reproduction

Sowing and breeding require mature seeds. It is best to choose spring sowing. The climate is suitable in this season. That is, when everything recovers, the growth ability is better. When planting, some sandy soil can be used.

When planting, you need to plant at intervals. Don't plant too densely. Keep a certain distance. After planting, the upper layer needs to be covered with a layer of sandy soil about 3-5 cm, water it thoroughly once, cover it with plastic wrap, and take it to a place with scattered light.

Notes on seed propagation

The sowing and propagation of asparagus fern does not necessarily have to be limited to sandy soil, other types of soil can also be accepted, but if the seeds are loose, well ventilated and well drained, they will not rot.

When sowing and propagating, you should pay attention to the moisture in the soil. It should not be too wet, the seeds may rot, and it should not be too dry. The seeds will have difficulty germinating, and the soil needs to be kept moist.

Third, asparagus fern division propagation

It is relatively simple to propagate asparagus fern by division. You need to select some asparagus fern plants that have grown for 2 years, then dig them out and divide them into several branches into one plant with a root system.

Transplant it into another pot, pour water once, and store it in a cool place. Soon bamboo shoots will grow. When the shoots grow up, they will become bamboo and have the ability to reproduce.

Precautions for dividing asparagus fern

When planting asparagus fern, be careful when digging so as not to damage its root system. When transplanting it to another flower pot, you cannot take it out immediately to bask in the sun. Although asparagus fern also likes light, bright light is good.

When you start planting, you should find a cool place to maintain it. Then maintain it under diffuse light, the leaves will be more beautiful. Do not let the sun shine directly. Do not fertilize when dividing the plant, but apply thin fertilizer after about 45 days of normal growth .
