What to do if the leaves of peony flowers curl

What to do if the leaves of peony flowers curl

1. Proper pruning

Reason: The peony was transplanted too late, resulting in the root system not recovering well, and the plant consumed too many nutrients, causing the leaves to curl.

Solution: Prune the branches and leaves of the peony and remove the flower buds to reduce nutrient consumption. You can also apply a little fertilizer, which is mainly nitrogen, which can make the roots grow quickly.

2. Keep warm in time

Reason: Low temperatures can easily cause frostbite to peonies, especially the roots, which can affect the absorption of water and nutrients, causing the leaves to curl.

Solution: Place the peony in a warm place indoors for a period of time. If it starts to recover slowly, it means the frostbite is not serious. If it still doesn't get better, remove it from the pot and check for root rot. Cut off the rotten and old roots, disinfect them and replant them.

3. Provide shade

Cause: Too much light causes the peony leaves to burn, or water loss due to transpiration causes the leaves to curl.

Solution: Place the peony in a cool and ventilated place and wait for it to recover slowly. After the leaves are no longer curled, they can be placed in the sun, but they need to be shaded at noon to avoid further exposure to the sun.

4. Replenish water

Cause: Inadequate watering can cause peony growth to stunt, causing the leaves to curl.

Solution: Replenish water for the peony in time. Although it has good drought tolerance, long-term lack of water is not conducive to its growth. Water the plant immediately after the soil dries out, but don't water it too much, otherwise the roots will easily be submerged.
