How to plant perilla seeds and when to plant perilla leaf seeds

Perilla seeds are usually sown around March , and there is usually a one-month difference in sowing time between the south and the north. The sowing time in the south is usually in March, and in the north it is usually in mid-to-late April.

Perilla seeds are not very demanding on the soil. They like moisture and avoid waterlogging. When the average daily temperature is above 18℃, the first pair of true leaves will appear in 5-10 days after the seedlings, and 3-4 pairs of true leaves will grow in 30-40 days. The flowering period is from June to August, and the fruiting period is from September to October, and it will bear fruit while flowering.

How to Germinate Perilla Seeds

When planting perilla seeds, you should choose perilla seeds that are highly mature and have full grains, then choose soil that is easy to drain and has sufficient light, sprinkle in an appropriate amount of farmyard manure, and then plow the land once, and then you can plant the perilla seeds in the ground.

Perilla seed planting method

1. Ground planting

When sowing perilla seeds in the field, you should use the direct seeding method, sow in rows with a row spacing of 60 cm, dig 2-3 cm furrows, then spread the seeds evenly in the furrows and cover with a thin layer of soil.

2. Potted plants

When planting perilla seeds in pots, use the hole sowing method. Dig holes with a row spacing of about 45 cm and a plant spacing of 20-30 cm. Place the seeds in the holes and cover them with shallow soil. In addition, water them immediately after planting to ensure that the soil is moist so that the perilla seeds can grow better.
