What are the planting conditions and production areas of Rouge Rice?

Requirements for planting rouge rice

Rouge rice is not very demanding on the soil and can be planted in any paddy soil, but it is sensitive to temperature. As long as the temperature exceeds 12 degrees, the rouge rice seeds will begin to germinate and head.

The suitable temperature during its flowering period is between 24 and 30 degrees. If the temperature exceeds 35 degrees, pollen fertilization will be poor and the fruit setting rate will drop significantly. If the temperature is below 20 degrees, it will easily cause a reduction in yield.

The growing environment of Rouge Rice

Rouge rice has very good quality, but has very high requirements for the environment. It must meet three conditions: first, it must be grown in the mountains at an altitude of about 800 meters; second, it must have a climate with warm winters and cool summers; and third, it must be isolated and clean. If the pollen is messy, it may affect the quality of the rice.

How to plant Rouge Rice

Rouge rice has a long history of cultivation in China. Traditional artificial sowing methods can be used. Generally, during the Qingming Festival in the lunar calendar, when the outdoor temperature exceeds 12 degrees, seedling cultivation can begin. The temperature and humidity at this time are suitable for the growth of seedlings.

Before sowing, you can put the rouge rice seeds in the sun for 1-2 days on a sunny day to increase the germination rate, then soak them in 18-degree warm water for 48 to 72 hours, prepare the seedbed in advance, and sow them in the seedling pond after the seed embryo emerges, keeping the soil moist. When the seedlings grow to 28 days, they can be transplanted into the field.
