Can lavender be hydroponically cultivated? Hydroponics methods and maintenance tips

Can lavender be grown hydroponically?

Lavender is a small shrub of the Lamiaceae family and the genus Lavandula. It can be grown hydroponically, but the survival rate of hydroponics is not high. It is not as easy to grow as in soil. Lavender is more suitable for soil cultivation.

Lavender hydroponic cultivation methods and key points

1. Select new branches:

In order to make lavender survive more easily, you should choose new branches with better growth for hydroponics. Cut off new branches about 14 cm long and remove the leaves at the base, and place them in a cool place to dry.

2. Selection of container:

Generally, you choose a special hydroponic container, or you can choose a homemade hydroponic container. You need to simply fix the lavender. Use foam that is smaller than the mouth of the container, poke a few small holes on it, and insert the cuttings into the holes.

3. Control the amount of water added:

Add water to the container, enough to cover the base of the cuttings by about one centimeter. It will take about a month for roots to grow. After rooting, add nutrient solution. Remember to change the water regularly.

Precautions for growing lavender in water

1. When growing lavender hydroponically, try not to directly switch from soil cultivation to hydroponics, as this can easily cause environmental discomfort and lead to its direct death.

2. During the breeding process, change the water regularly and add nutrient solution to ensure that the lavender has sufficient nutrients.

3. When growing lavender in water, it needs sufficient light to ensure its healthy growth.
