Can philodendron be grown hydroponically?

Philodendron is a climbing plant that is suitable for making into large potted plants for various interior decorations. It can be grown hydroponically, but its growth rate is somewhat slow compared to soil cultivation, and its leaves will also grow more shabby, not as green and vibrant as the leaves grown in soil.

Hydroponic cultivation method of philodendron

1. Clean the roots of the philodendron, trim the old roots appropriately, and then use clean water to grow it. It is best to submerge 1/3 of the roots in the container.

2. After the new roots of the philodendron sprout, you need to further prune the old roots and change the water in time.

3. In the hot summer, you can spray water around to increase the air humidity.

4. The leaves of philodendron are very large, and it is necessary to frequently add suitable nutrient solution to supplement nutrients to the leaves.

5. Generally, it is better to grow a single philodendron in water.

Precautions for growing philodendron in water

1. Temperature and light. The optimum growth temperature of philodendron is 20-25℃. Philodendron is suitable for a sunny environment. If it is placed in a dark place, it should be placed in a sunny place for several days every two weeks. When the sunlight is strong, pay attention to shading.

2. Change the water. In the early stage of hydroponics, the water should be changed every two days, and once half a month after the water roots grow.

3. When changing the water of the philodendron, nutrient solution should be added. It is also necessary to spray water on the leaves frequently to keep the leaves clean and the air humid.
