Growth habits of Daphne koreana

Osmanthus fragrans prefers a warm, slightly moist, well-ventilated semi-shady environment. It does not like high temperatures. When the temperature is higher than 25 degrees, its growth will be hindered to a certain extent. Its cold resistance is also slightly poor. The wintering temperature should not be lower than 5 degrees. It likes loose, fertile, slightly acidic soil rich in organic matter and is not resistant to strong sunlight.

Cultivation method of Daphne koreana

Potting soil: The potting soil should be made of loose, fertile, and well-breathable leaf mold, add some large-particle river sand, and some cake fertilizer or mix it in a ratio of 4:4:2 among garden soil, leaf mold, and river sand.

Light: Osmanthus fragrans does not like strong light, but during the flowering period, the temperature is generally lower in winter and spring, so appropriate light is needed to help the flowers open.

Watering: Be sure to pay attention when watering. Water when the soil in the pot is half dry. If you are not sure, insert a bamboo stick and pull it out to check. Water thoroughly when it is half dry, and keep the soil ventilated.

Fertilization: Water with multi-element fertilizer every half a month during the growing season. Potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be used one month before flowering. After flowering, gradually increase nitrogen fertilizer to promote the growth of branches and leaves.

Precautions for cultivation of Daphne koreana

Generally, the flowerpot of Osmanthus fragrans should be changed every two years. The change of pot should be done after the flowers bloom in spring, when the temperature gradually rises to 15 degrees. Keep 1/3 of the heart soil, and replace the rest with loose and breathable new soil. The growth is faster in spring, and it can be pruned appropriately after the flowers bloom, but do not prune heavily, and adjust the plant shape appropriately to increase the ornamental value.
