How long is the growth cycle of bayberry?

Introduction to the growth of bayberry

Bayberry is widely planted in temperate regions, mainly distributed on hillsides or valley forests at an altitude of 125-1500 meters. It is more widely planted in the south, and is distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Fujian, Guangdong, Hunan, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Anhui, Taiwan and other places.

Bayberry growth cycle

Bayberry likes a warm and humid environment, is relatively cold-resistant, and is afraid of high temperatures, especially when the fruit grows and develops rapidly to maturity. If the temperature is between 30 and 35 degrees, the acidity of the fruit will increase, the fruit shape will become smaller, and the quality will decline. It likes to be planted in fertile, loose acidic soil.

It usually takes 4-5 years for bayberry to grow from sowing to fruiting. It matures in June and July every year and enters the peak fruit-bearing period after 8 years.

Bayberry growth rate

Bayberry grows slowly. It starts from a seed, which will slowly take root and sprout when planted in the soil. After a long period of growth, the plant will become strong. It may take 7 to 10 years from germination to flowering and fruiting. After flowering, it will be pollinated in March and April each year, and the fruit will mature in early to late June.

Bayberry growth cycle management

Temperature management: Bayberry likes a warm climate and requires an average temperature of 15 to 21 degrees. It is not cold-resistant or high-temperature resistant. Warmth-keeping measures need to be taken in winter and cooling measures need to be taken in summer.

Fertilization management: After the bayberry trees are planted, nitrogen fertilizer can be applied. In August, an appropriate amount of decomposed rapeseed cake fertilizer can be applied, and then the amount of fertilizer can be appropriately increased according to its growth status.
