The difference between hawthorn and sea buckthorn

1. Difference of blades

The leaves of hawthorn are triangular-ovate or broad-ovate, and rarely diamond-ovate. The apex is short and acuminate, the base is truncated to broadly cuneate, and there are usually 3-5 deep pinnate cracks on both sides, and the lobes are ovate-lanceolate or ribbon-shaped. The leaves of the sea red fruit are round or oval, with a wedge-shaped or round base, a gradually pointed tip, and are dark green in color.

2. Petal Difference

Hawthorn flowers are umbels, with obovate or nearly round petals and white color. The petals of the sea buckthorn are oval, white with a red blush.

3. Fruit Difference

The fruit of hawthorn is nearly spherical or pear-shaped and dark red in color. The sea buckthorn is oblate and dark red in color.
