What to do if you overwater strawberries

What to do if you overwater strawberries

The dangers of overwatering strawberries

If you water strawberries too much, their roots and leaves will turn yellow, and the leaves will slowly wither. When you find this happening, stop watering them in time.

Strawberries will die if they are watered too much. Since they are herbaceous plants, improper watering can easily lead to their death. Therefore, it is best to control watering during maintenance to avoid water accumulation.

Overwatering of strawberries

When strawberries are watered too much, you first need to stop watering, then place them in a cool and ventilated place, loosen the soil, and speed up the evaporation of accumulated water, so that the plants will soon resume normal growth.

Strawberries soaked in rain

If strawberries are exposed to rain, they need to be drained immediately and placed in a ventilated place. Otherwise, the strawberry roots will easily rot due to long-term immersion in water. Therefore, it is best to move the strawberry potted plants to a place where they will not be exposed to rain when it rains.

Key points for watering strawberries

1. The strawberry root system is shallow, the transpiration is large, and the water requirements are strict. In early spring and flowering, strawberries require 70% of the maximum soil moisture content. During the fruit growth and ripening period, the water requirement reaches more than 80%.

2. When caring for strawberries, you can water them as long as the soil in the pot is not too wet. If the soil is too wet, it will easily cause root rot and eventually the plant will die.

3. During the growth process of strawberries, suitable water for watering are rice water and milk. Milk contains rich nutrients that can make strawberries grow vigorously.
