Can rose seeds be planted?

Rose seeds can be planted, but their seeds are very fragile. When planting, they should be buried in moist soil instead of soaking them to promote seedling growth. Generally, seedlings will emerge in about a month.

The flowering period of rose is relatively long, between April and October, with the most flowers in spring. After flowering, it will bear fruit. The fruit is red and yellow when ripe, and it has a cracked top. The "seeds" are achenes, which are chestnut brown in color.

Rose seed sowing time

The most suitable time to sow rose seeds is between February and May and August and October each year. The climate is warm during these two periods, and the germination rate and survival rate of the seeds after planting are the highest.

How to plant rose seeds

1. Germination treatment : When planting rose seeds, bury them in moist soil. Be careful not to bury them too deep, about three to five centimeters deep. After burying, place them in an environment of about 0 degrees for two months, which will make it easier for them to germinate.

2. Prepare the potting soil : When planting roses, you can use loose soil, which can be mixed with river sand, leaf mold and organic fertilizer. Also pay attention to spraying carbendazim for disinfection to avoid breeding of pests. This way, there is sufficient nutrients and the soil has good air permeability, which is more conducive to the growth of the plant.

3. Sowing : When planting roses, pay attention to the low temperature environment. The most suitable temperature is between 5-10 degrees. Use spot sowing when planting, with the seeds about three centimeters apart. After sowing, cover with a layer of plain sand and water it thoroughly.
