How to propagate the money tree by cuttings?

The fortune tree has a good meaning. Many people like to put a pot of it at home, but they don't know how to propagate it through cuttings. The following is a detailed introduction from two aspects: the time and method of cutting.

Cutting time of fortune tree

To increase the survival rate of the fortune tree, it is best to take cuttings from May to August , when the climatic conditions are very suitable for propagating trees. If the temperature is too low, the branches will be frozen and it will not be easy to survive.

How to propagate the fortune tree by cuttings

1. Choose potting soil

The cuttings of the money tree require a well-ventilated and water-permeable soil . You can also simply mix the soil yourself, add coarse sand and vermiculite, add some perlite, mix well and use it. Be careful not to use soil with strong viscosity, otherwise it will easily cause root rot.

2. Choose branches

Cuttings should be selected from strong branches grown in the current year. Generally, newly grown tender branches should not be selected. Branches should be cut to about 7-10 cm. It is best to disinfect the scissors before cutting.

3. Processing branches

Use sterilized scissors to cut off an angled cut at the bottom of the branch. Leave one or two leaves and remove all other leaves to avoid unnecessary nutrient consumption. Apply rooting powder to the angled cut below the branch.

4. Take cuttings

It is best to disinfect the base material, then pour an appropriate amount of water into the flowerpot. Insert the treated branches into the base material, and be careful not to damage the cut of the branches, otherwise it may cause them to fail to survive.

5. Subsequent maintenance

Place the cuttings in a cool, dark place. In addition, pay attention to proper watering and maintain humidity in daily life. Generally, the roots will take about 20 days to grow .
