Rhododendron flowering period maintenance

Rhododendron flowering period maintenance

1. Maintain the environment

Azalea needs to maintain a constant environment during its flowering period. If the environment changes drastically, it will affect the flowering period of azalea and shorten it significantly.

2. Appropriate amount of light

During the maintenance process, the azalea in flowering period needs to be placed in a bright place. The light should be scattered light to avoid direct sunlight. If the light is too strong, the flowers of azalea will appear burnt. If there is insufficient light, the color of the azalea flowers will become dull. Both of these situations will shorten its flowering period.

3. Adjust the temperature

During the flowering period of azalea, the temperature needs to be kept within 15-20℃, the maximum cannot exceed 25℃, and the minimum cannot be lower than 10℃, otherwise it will affect its flowering.

4. Reasonable watering

During the flowering period, maintain sufficient and stable water supply to avoid excessive dryness or excessive humidity.

5. Reduce fertilization

It is not recommended to fertilize during the flowering period. Improper fertilization may cause flower drop.

6. Notes

When spraying, be careful not to spray on the petals. If water droplets are sprayed directly on the petals, it will significantly shorten the flowering period of the azalea. In addition, when azaleas begin to wilt, wither, change color, and fall off, you should promptly trim off the remaining flowers and their pedicels to prevent them from forming stones that consume nutrients. There are fewer diseases and pests during the flowering period, and the main thing to pay attention to is preventing slugs.
