How to divide aloe vera

How to divide aloe vera

1. Remove from the basin

Do not water the aloe vera three to five days before division, so that the soil in the pot can dry out and be easier to remove from the pot. When removing the aloe vera from the pot, hold the root of the aloe vera with one hand and turn the pot upside down with the other hand. This way, the aloe vera can be easily removed from the pot.

2. Prune the roots

After removing the aloe vera from the pot, you will find messy roots growing on the small side buds. At this time, it is necessary to trim it to facilitate the removal of side buds. First, clean the soil around the side buds, and then cut off all old roots, weak roots and roots that are about to rot.

3. Division

First, gently break off the small buds that emerge from the bottom of the aloe vera. Be careful not to use force to avoid damaging the roots of the plant. If you really can't break it off, you can use a knife to cut it off. When separating side buds, it is important to note that the separated side buds should have roots to facilitate survival. Then put the broken off side buds in a cool and ventilated place to dry for a while until the wounds dry.

4. Put it in the basin

Prepare loose and breathable nutrient soil, then use a watering can to slightly moisten the soil surface so that it is a little moist. Then plant the side buds with dried wounds in pots. Allow the roots of the side buds to stretch out, place them in the nutrient soil, and then compact the soil. Do not water immediately after potting. You can water it after about 3 days.
