Figs are particularly delicious, with a sweet, soft and fragrant taste. You can start planting around March or April!

Steps:

1. Cut some fig branches and divide them into small sections. It is best to leave 2 to 3 buds in each section so that they will germinate faster.

2. Fig cuttings can be propagated with the help of plastic bottles. Some flower lovers have tested that the rooting rate is higher in plastic bottles than directly planting in the ground. Fill the bottle with 1:1 sand and soil, wet it and insert the branches.

3. The soil in the plastic bottle should be kept moist and placed in a location with scattered light. It should not be exposed to direct sunlight before transplanting. It will take about 2 weeks for the roots to form.

4. After about 6 to 8 weeks of fig cuttings, they can be transplanted into separate pots. Just remove a little soil around the roots and you can transplant them.

5. Prepare a large flowerpot for the figs so that the roots can grow better and produce more fruits.

6. After transplanting, place the flower pot in the sunniest place in the home and let it get sun every day. Just make sure the soil is not too dry. Figs will easily rot if they are watered too much.

7. Some friends say that figs grown in pots do not produce as many fruits as those grown in the ground. That’s because the nutrients in the pots are limited. You can apply thin organic fertilizer 1 to 2 times a month.

8. Figs usually begin to mature in August and September. You can apply some potassium fertilizer two months in advance, so that the fruits will grow more and bigger.

strawberry

The strawberries on the market nowadays are very expensive, but their taste is very average. It’s better to plant a pot on the balcony. After a few months, you can eat the strawberries you planted yourself!

Steps:

1. To plant strawberries, you can directly buy strawberry seedlings, which can be purchased at the flower market or online.

2. Prepare a flowerpot with a relatively large mouth. It doesn’t need to be too deep because the strawberry roots are relatively shallow. The soil can be made of leaf mold and river sand.

3. Clean the soil around the roots slightly, then plant it in the pot and fill it with soil. Strawberries grow very fast, so don’t plant too many in one pot. Generally, 2 to 3 plants are enough.

4. The planting direction of potted strawberries is also important. It is best to plant the strawberries with their arched backs facing outwards, so that the grown strawberries will hang outside the pot and will not get dirty.

5. Place the strawberries on the balcony and place them in a location where they can receive sufficient sunlight. Water daily to keep the soil moist.

6. Wait until the strawberries bloom and then you can pollinate them. Use an old brush or soft-bristle brush, dip it in the pollen of one strawberry, and then brush it on another strawberry. You can brush it again every few days to increase the success rate of pollination.

7. Soon, the small white flowers will produce strawberries. At this time, you can apply a thin layer of cake fertilizer water, so that the fruits will be bigger and taste sweeter.

8. When the strawberries turn red, you can pick them and eat them. The strawberries I grow myself are particularly rich, fragrant and sweet. If you plant a pot now, you can eat strawberries around June.

watermelon

Everyone loves to eat watermelon in summer. If your balcony is large, you can try growing your own watermelon. Around late March, when the temperature at home is above 15 degrees, you can plant it.

Steps:

1. Buy some watermelon seeds. It is best to choose small varieties for planting at home. Put the seeds in warm water at about 30 degrees, soak for an hour, then take them out and place them on a wet paper towel for 2 to 3 hours.

2. Prepare a flower pot, add some base fertilizer to the soil, and wet the soil surface with water. Dig a small hole 1 to 2 cm deep, plant the watermelon seeds in it, and cover it with soil.

3. After a week, the watermelon seedlings will grow leaves. At this time, you can start to expose it to the sun and keep the soil slightly moist.

4. Watermelon has the habit of climbing, so you can use a wooden stick to guide the growth direction of the vine so that it will not grow too messy.

5. After about a month, the watermelon will bloom small flowers. If the watermelon does not bloom for a long time, you can water it with some rotted bone water.

6. After flowering, the watermelon needs to be pollinated. The watermelon vines without small watermelons are male flowers. Pick the male flowers and rub the female flowers with their stamens.

7. A few days after pollination, the small watermelons begin to grow. Usually, one or two watermelons are left in a pot. The nutrients in the potted plants are limited, and if you leave too many, they will not grow big.

8. In more than a month, the watermelons will basically be ripe. Water them less before harvesting. Watering too much will make the watermelons not sweet. When the watermelon rind has clear patterns and makes a dull sound when tapped, you can pick it and eat it!
