How to plant kumquat seeds

one. Seed treatment

1 Whether the seeds are left after eating fruit or are specially saved for seeds, you need to determine the freshness of the seeds before planting. Usually, the bud point of the seeds has turned black or the seed skin has become wrinkled. These seeds are not fresh enough. Seeds that are not fresh enough will not germinate after planting, so it is important to identify them carefully.

2 To keep the seed skin clean, wash off the pulp attached to the seed skin.

3. Soak the selected and cleaned seeds in water, and change the water once a day to make the seeds full of moisture. Soak them in water for about a week. During this week, you must insist on changing the water every day. This can keep the seeds clean and prevent them from rotting due to soaking in water for too long.

4 After soaking for a week, you can take out the seeds and prepare a pair of tweezers to carefully remove the thin layer of seed skin on the surface of the seeds. Be very careful when removing so as not to damage the inside of the seeds. Seeds with the outer skin removed will germinate and grow faster.

two. Sowing steps

1. Prepare fertile soil. Choose a valley or hill that is facing away from the wind or in the shade as the planting place. The soil must be deep and loose enough, preferably sandy soil. Of course, if you don’t want to plant on a large scale or just want to plant for your own viewing, you can prepare a pot of nutritious soil, or you can dig it directly from the vegetable garden.

2 Bury the seeds two centimeters away from the surface of the soil. It should be noted that before burying them in the soil, you must clearly understand where the bud point is, because sometimes some seeds need to be planted with the bud point facing up or down.

3 If you want to plant it in a pot for viewing, you can arrange the seeds more closely. This way, when the seeds grow and sprout, they will appear more compact, giving people the feeling of a small forest, thus achieving the purpose of viewing. If you want to plant it for a long time and make it grow bigger, you need to keep enough space between the seeds.

4 Before the seeds germinate, you must water them frequently to keep the soil moist enough.
