Can crystal palm be maintained in summer?

What type of succulent is the crystal palm

Crystal palm is a plant of the genus Haworthia. Theoretically, it is a winter species that goes dormant in summer and grows in winter. But in fact, the cultivated crystal palm does not have such habits.

When cultivating crystal palm, you will find that it mostly hibernates in spring, starts to grow around May, and also grows in summer, but in autumn, it enters a short hibernation again. In October, it can grow normally again, but it grows slower.

In fact, from this growth pattern, we can see that the crystal palm is neither a summer type nor a winter type, but a spring and autumn type. The time of dormancy is in spring and autumn, while summer and winter are when it grows and it does not dormant.

So, from this point of view, crystal palm can be maintained normally in summer.

How to care for crystal palm in summer

When growing crystal palms in summer, you must pay attention to watering them, but be careful not to allow water to accumulate. Generally, watering is done in the evening on a sunny day. If the soil is dry, do not water it until it is thoroughly watered. Keep the soil loose.

But be careful, because of the climate, you need to avoid root rot. If the rhizome rots and the leaves are relatively intact, you can remove them and propagate them by leaf cuttings. Insert it into the soil and wait for roots to grow out before planting it again. But if the base is also rotten, it is generally impossible to save it.
