How to fertilize crape myrtle

How to fertilize crape myrtle

Fertilize according to growth conditions

The crape myrtle will shed its leaves after winter every year. After the leaves fall, we can apply some organic fertilizers, such as sesame paste residue and animal manure, which are all good organic fertilizers. Similarly, the same organic fertilizers can be applied before the crape myrtle grows new buds in spring. This can make the crape myrtle grow vigorously and make the flowers large and colorful.

Fertilize according to the seasons

In early March, the crape myrtle flowers are generally sprouting, and at this time, it is necessary to apply a mixture of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to help the growth of branches and leaves. In late May and early June, it is necessary to apply a mixture of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, which can promote flowering of crape myrtle and strengthen the flower branches. Generally, the flowering period of crape myrtle is from July to September. At this time, you can apply some cake fertilizer water as flowering fertilizer, which can make the color of the crape myrtle flowers more vivid.

Fertilization precautions

If you fertilize the crape myrtle too frequently, its branches and leaves will grow too long. However, lack of fertilizer will make its branches and leaves weak, its branches thin and dry, and its flowers not lush and bright. Therefore, we must fertilize regularly according to the growth law of the crape myrtle, apply thin fertilizers frequently, and ensure the nutrition required by the crape myrtle. In spring and summer, crape myrtle grows vigorously, so apply more fertilizer than usual, but do not apply fertilizer on rainy days and during hot summer afternoons. The frequency of fertilization should be relatively reduced in autumn, and there is no need to fertilize crape myrtle in winter.
