White palm cultivation methods and precautions

White palm cultivation methods and precautions

Anthurium belongs to the Araceae family. It is a perennial herbaceous foliage plant, usually between 40 and 50 cm in height. The plant is not tall, with short and clumping rhizomes and lush branches and leaves. Its name implies auspiciousness, and it is also called white crane lily, smooth sailing or peace taro. Let’s learn about the cultivation methods and precautions of white calla lilies below.

1. Lighting management

White calla lilies prefer a semi-shaded environment with scattered light, so they should not be placed in direct sunlight. Just place it in a brightly lit area with some diffused light. Anthurium is afraid of strong direct sunlight. Long-term exposure to the sun will cause the leaves to turn yellow and wither. Especially in summer, it should be avoided from direct sunlight and placed in a cool and ventilated place so that its branches and leaves can remain green and lush all year round.

2. Water appropriately

Although anthuriums like warm and humid environments, you need to be careful when planting them in pots indoors. Because the indoor light is not strong and water evaporation is less, the soil in the pot should not be waterlogged and can be kept slightly moist. In fact, you can wait until the soil in the pot is slightly dry before watering. Too much water will cause yellow leaves or root rot. White calla lily is suitable for lazy people to maintain and does not require frequent watering. It can also absorb indoor dust and harmful gases.

3. Winter insulation

Anthurium is not cold-resistant, so it should not be placed outdoors after late autumn. It should be moved indoors for maintenance to avoid frostbite. As long as the indoor temperature remains above 10 degrees, white calla lilies can safely survive the winter. In winter, you should pay attention to keeping warm, reduce watering, and keep the soil in the pot slightly dry. If the indoor temperature is high, you can increase ventilation and watering appropriately.

4. Repotting or fertilizing in spring

When the temperature is suitable in spring, you can change the potting soil for the anthurium. If the plant grows vigorously and there is insufficient space in the flowerpot, you can replace it with a larger pot and avoid using ceramic pots with poor air permeability and drainage. When repotting, you should prepare loose, fertile, breathable soil and add some particles. After planting with new culture soil, the growth of anthurium will be more vigorous, the growth rate will be faster, the number of leaves will increase, and the flowers will be more beautiful.

In short, the flowers of Anthurium are white and elegant, shaped like sails, symbolizing a smooth life and good academic and work performance. Placing a pot of white calla lily at home is a good choice.
