How to grow daisies

How to grow daisies

Planting and maintenance

1. Sow seeds in the potted seedling bed from the end of August to the beginning of September.

2. After sowing daisies, they should not be exposed to the sun. They should be shaded with curtains and should not be covered with transparent film.

3. When the daisy seedlings emerge, remove the curtains.

4. Start transplanting when two or three leaves grow in the pot soil. Plant the daisies bare-rooted without soil. Keep the pot soil moist and water appropriately. When the pot soil becomes dry, shade it with curtains for 2-3 days, then water it appropriately.

5. Loosen and turn the soil after two days. After they grow out, prevent the leaf stems from growing too long. Apply appropriate amount of fertilizer in the pot. The next year, the plant will be short and strong, with strong resistance to adversity, and the flowers will be large, plump and colorful.

6. Daisies are cold-resistant but afraid of dryness and frost. Determining the thickness of the mat according to weather conditions and the growth of the seedlings can effectively control the flowering period and the excessive growth of the seedlings.

7. After one or two transplants in autumn, they can be planted directly into the flower bed in spring when they are in bloom. If the plants are not transplanted in autumn, they can be grown in potting soil with enough base fertilizer in spring.

8. Use leaf mold as base fertilizer when planting. After planting, water the plants about once a week.

9. Daisies do not require much fertilizer, so there is no need to fertilize too frequently. Apply a thin layer of fertilizer every 2-3 weeks, till the soil once a month, and stop fertilizing after flowering in February.

Precautions

Daisies cannot tolerate cold and shade during their growing period and prefer places with plenty of sunlight. Therefore, they should be placed on the balcony to maintain their photosynthesis at all times.

If the daisies are not divided and transplanted in autumn, you can take the seedlings out of the pots in late autumn, separate them, and keep a little soil on the roots. Then grab a handful of moist soil rich in humus fertilizer and spray it to keep it moist, so as to promote the vigorous growth of fibrous roots.
