How to grow peony in a pot

Preparation

Prepare a basin

It is best to choose a clay pot that is deeper and, depending on the size of the plant, should be more than 35 cm wide and high.

Basin

Place harder plastic foam at the bottom of the pot to increase the air permeability of the soil.

drug

Prepare sulfur powder or methyl thiophanate powder. If you are more particular, you can also prepare rooting powder and Green Heng No. 1.

Planting time

In spring and summer, it is best to plant in a well-lit and ventilated place with dew.

In addition, before planting, you should check the peony plants to see if there are any black spots, white mold, broken roots, etc. on the roots. If no problems are found, you can plant them normally.

Potting method

Treating plants

First, clean the peony plants, place the roots of the peony plants under the faucet and rinse the roots clean. Then soak it in disinfectant and rooting powder for 30 minutes. Because peonies have long roots, it is best to use buckets of water to allow the roots to stretch and soak. The next step is to prune the roots, cutting off all the old roots and retaining the new roots and thin heels. Depending on the size of the pot, cut off any roots that are too long.

Basin

Place the peony in the pot, position it correctly, add coarse sand and then fine sand, and shake the pot to ensure that there is no gap between the roots and the pot.

Put some coarse sand, bark or pine needles on the soil surface to prevent the soil from becoming compacted due to long-term watering or fertilization. Then water it thoroughly and keep it in a cool place.
