How to Make Tulips Bloom Every Year

How to Make Tulips Bloom Every Year

Step 1

After harvesting the cut tulips, you need to gradually reduce the amount of watering until the tulips' leaves become dry, turn yellow, and fall off. They should be harvested in June and July when the weather is hot, before the high temperature hits.

When tulips are just grown, you need to use a shovel to dig the bulbs out of the pot. When digging, you must be careful not to touch the skin of the bulbs, otherwise it will be easily infected by bacteria.

Step 2

The dug bulbs can be divided into several grades for screening, and then hung in a cool and ventilated place to dry for about 1 day. Then, use bactericidal solutions such as thiophanate-methyl and carbendazim to soak the tulip bulbs in them for disinfection, and then place them in a ventilated and dry place for storage.

Tulips will differentiate during their dormancy period. The storage temperature for tulips should vary for different varieties. The highest storage temperature must not exceed 25°C, and they must be observed frequently to prevent the occurrence and spread of diseases.

Step 3

For tulips planted in potted plants at home, there is no need to store them because the number planted will definitely not be large. Just leave them in the pots, do not water them, and place them in a cool place to safely spend the summer. As long as the bulb does not rot, new leaves will sprout in autumn.
