Difference Between Spearmint and Peppermint

1. Difference in smell

Spearmint and mint belong to the same family, so there is little difference in appearance, but there is a difference in smell. The smell of spearmint is relatively fresh and not so strong. It has a cool fragrance and is not very pungent if you smell it carefully.

The aroma of mint is stronger. If you smell it up close, it feels stronger and relatively pungent, so you can tell the difference.

2. Leaf Difference

The leaves of the former are smaller in shape and are about 4-5 cm in length. The color of its leaves is also darker, and the texture on the leaves is clearer and more obvious.

The leaves of the latter are larger than those of the former, with a length of about 2.5-7 cm. Its leaves are lighter in color and the texture on them does not look as clear.

3. Flower Difference

The former has flowers that are purple or white.

The flowers of the latter are mostly purple or lavender.

4. Differences in plant types

In comparison, the former's plant height is shorter, about 40-130 cm.

The latter type of plant is relatively taller, with a height of about 40-150 cm.
