What are ferns?

1. Lotus leaf fern

The plant of the lotus leaf fern is about 5 to 20 cm tall, with a short and upright rhizome. The leaves are oval and kidney-shaped, about 2 to 6 cm wide. The upper side of the leaves is dark green and the surface is very smooth. The edges of the leaves have round serrations.

2. Shield fern

The plant of the truncate shield fern is about 36 cm tall. Its rhizome is long and sparsely covered with light brown scales. The leaves are long ovate triangular, with entire margins and very obvious lateral veins.

3. Fern

The bead fern usually grows on the trunks of large trees. Its rhizome is very short and densely covered with thin, long, narrow, light reddish-brown scales. Its leaves are about 50 to 60 cm long or longer. The middle leaves are pinnate-cleft, with entire lobes and pinnae at the top that are shrunken and bead-shaped.
