How to divide Anthurium

How to divide Anthurium

1. Timing of division

The timing of division can be divided into the time of division and the age of division.

In terms of time, spring and autumn are the most suitable because the temperature is just right and the weather is not too hot; while summer and winter are too high and too low. But if you divide the plants in a greenhouse, you can do it all year round.

If you go by age, you can usually do it when the seedling has 4 to 5 leaves, so that it can grow better. If the sub-plant is too small, its growth rate will be slowed down. If the sub-plant is too large, it will affect the growth of the mother plant.

2. Preparation before division

Before you start, you need to choose the potting soil. Since it likes breathable soil, you can use a mixture of peat and perlite, and then sterilize the soil. In addition, you also need to choose the mother plant, because the small one is easier to survive than the large one, and it is more likely to grow side branches, so the mother plant can be a small one.

3. Carry out division

1. First select the mother plant, and then separate the sub-plants from the mother plant by hand at the appropriate position.

2. Be careful when dividing the plants so as not to damage the mother plant and the daughter plants. If you can't break them apart with your hands, you can use a knife and gently cut them at the right place to separate them.

3. After separating them, the sub-plants need to be placed in a sterilized container for disinfection, and the roots must be completely soaked in the disinfectant.

4. After disinfection, you can take out the seedlings and plant them. Remember not to plant too many in each pot, just a moderate amount. Finally, if you take good care of it, it will grow branches and leaves soon.
